North Carolina Shooting Sports, Learn by Doing, Currituck County 4-H Shooting Sports Open HouseThe Currituck County 4-H Shooting Sports Club is holding an open house at the Currituck County Sheriff’s Range (Maple Road behind the Water Dept.) at 1 p.m. on April 1, 2023 for parents and youth interested in participating in the 4-H Shooting Sports program.

The Currituck 4-H Shooting Sports Club leaders will present an overview of the 4-H Shooting Sports program, provide prospective members with the rules, regulations and policies that govern NC 4-H shooting sports, and provide youth with an opportunity to participate with the club in a shooting sports educational training session.

The range is a closed, gated facility. If you would like to attend the open house you must make a reservation by calling or emailing the Club Leader, Kathy Melton at 757-647-3812 or katsbass@gmail.com. All youth must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or legal guardian during the entire session.

The 4-H Shooting Sports Program is a youth development education program which uses a prevention education model that strongly emphasizes positive youth-adult interaction and peer leadership. It uses skills and disciplines of safe shooting and conservation to assist young people and their leaders in attaining knowledge and developing essential life skills. Each local program is guided under the administration of the 4-H County Extension Agent and must be guided and delivered by an instructor that has been certified by the NC 4-H Shooting Sports Coordinator, registered in the 4-H Online system and endorsed as a volunteer through the N.C. Cooperative Extension background check process.
