Have you ever wanted to keep bees but didn’t know where to start? Would you like a chance to find out all about beekeeping and what it takes to be a successful beekeeper? Then the Annual Beginner Beekeeping Short Course from the Davie County Beekeepers might be just what you need.

The course will be held on Saturday, January 11th, 18th, and 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Davie County  Extension Center Office. Topics covered will include:

  • Beekeeping Equipment and hive parts
  • Starting a honey bee hive
  • Locating the hive
  • Feeding the new colony
  • Routine checkups
  • Fall, Winter, and Spring preparation
  • Diseases and Pest of the Honey bee
  • Treatment and Preventive Maintenance

The cost of the course is $60.00 for adults and $25.00 for youth. The course fee includes one year of membership in the Davie County Beekeepers Association as well as the course.
