The Ninth Annual Albemarle Master Gardener℠ Volunteers’ Spring Garden Show, “A World of Gardening,” will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at the Perquimans County Recreational Center, 310 Granby Street, Hertford, from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. This event is organized by the Master Gardener℠ volunteers in Perquimans, Chowan, and Gates Counties.

This annual fundraising event is held to support the Master Gardener℠ volunteers’ scholarship fund, The Katherine G. Shook Master Gardener Scholarship. The sale will feature plants sales, gardening items plus locally made crafts from a variety of vendors, a children’s corner, “Ask a Master Gardener Booth,” homemade baked good, educational speakers, a 50/50 raffle, and more. Lunch, provided by Brew2Rescue, will be available for purchase. Admission is free.

This is the Master Gardener℠ volunteers’ only fundraiser for their scholarship fund which is awarded each year to students from Gates, Perquimans, or Chowan counties who are pursuing a career in horticulture, agriculture, natural resources, or a related field. The fund is named for Katy Shook who has been the N.C. Cooperative Extension Consumer Horticulture agent for Chowan, Gates, and Perquimans counties since 2003, and established the area Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteer program in 2005.
